Eduardo I. Hidalgo was the mayor of Salvacion during the 1960s and the governor of Negros from the era 1970s to 1984.

Appearance[]

Eduardo wears barong or a white polo most of the time to depict his status as Mayor of Salvacion and Governor of Negros later on.

Personality[]

Unlike a traditional haciendero, Eduardo was compassionate when it comes to the obreros. He always assures that the obreros were in good condition.

As a politician, he wanted public service and not power. That is why he refused Maximo when it convinced him to run as assemblyman of Negros because he believes that he could do more as Governor.

As a father, he did not tolerate wrongdoings of Franco which the later mistaken as being based and is always favors Samuel.

History[]

1953[]

Eduardo was a son of hacienderos in Salvacion. He manages their hacienda with the help of his assistant, Maximo. He befriended one of his housemaids, Elena and he later had a relationship with her. Unfortunately, Elena was accused of stealing jewelries from the Hidalgos which led to her imprisonment, but she was later discharged provided that she will leave Salvacion. Unknown to Eduardo, Maximo planned all of these, so that he could build up her daughter, Miranda to Eduardo, so that, they could benefit from Hidalgo's wealth. Maximo succeeded with his plan and Eduardo later married Miranda despite that the later was impregnated by a beauty contest judge. Eduardo took the responsibility as a father to Miranda's child and they named it Franco. Eduardo did not know that he had a child of his own. When Elena left Salvacion, she was pregnant with her son to Eduardo and she named it Samuel.

1964[]

He engaged himself to politics. He successfully won the mayorship of Salvacion in an election and defeated Gonzalo from the Miravelez family which is one of the most powerful family in Salvacion aside from the Hidalgos. Eduardo was well-loved by Salvacion people for always thinking about their welfare.

1975[]

Eduardo ran as Governor of Negros and successfully won the position. He continued to prioritize the needs of the people, especially the obreros which caused Gonzalo and Maximo to plot an assassination attempt against them which was wrongfully accused to Samuel, that endangered the laters life and family. Samuel and his family was forced to leave Salvacion with his family and when they went back to Salvacion, Elena confessed to Eduardo that Samuel was their son.

1984[]

He decided to run again for governor to stop Maximo, but the later withdrew and endorsed Franco. Eduardo later withdrew also and supported Samuel, but Franco cheated on Samuel, and the former succeeded on governorship. After the election, Maximo killed Eduardo.
